Tired
of hot dogs and hamburgers?
David’s Catering and Events
introduces churrasco catering, a unique and exciting barbeque
experience for both the party givers and their guests who
are bored with traditional BBQ.
Picture this – your
choice of 15 different delectable cuts of slow cooked, fire
roasted meats, thinly carved table-side, a sumptuous buffet
of gourmet salads, and a variety of delicious Brazilian side
dishes, topped off with decadent desserts.
Originating in the mountainous countryside of Brazil by
the legendary cowboy gauchos, churrasco has slowly spread
world-wide as a delicious, colorful food experience for festive
occasions.
How is it served? After guests
help themselves to the bountiful traditional buffet (e.g.
warm cheese bread, mashed potatoes, fried bananas, rice and
beans, etc.) the gaucho chefs circulate among the tables carrying
three foot sword-like skewers of sizzling fire-roasted cuts
of beef, pork, lamb, chicken etc. carved off the skewer to
each dinner plate. Each guest has their own personal cue card
to summon the gauchos – the two sided card is red and
green; green indicates “bring it on” or the red
side means “give me a break”.
That’s Churrasco! (Pronounced
shur-ras-koo)
What makes churrasco meats so delicious is very simple.
It is slow cooked with no meat directly over the flames and
is continuously basted with sea salt and its own juices resulting
in tender flavorful meats.
For the adults we can’t forget the Caipirinha, (pronounced
ky-pee-reen-ya) Brazil’s national drink. This tasty
refreshing concoction of fresh limes, Cachaça (Brazilian
liquor made from raw sugar cane), sugar and ice is a superb
combination.
Churrasco is an important element of the Gaucho culture,
always present at every festive occasion, especially family
gatherings. Churrasco catering satisfies palates and the desire
for something original.
If you are looking for a truly unforgettable and delicious
entertaining alternative, give churrasco a try for your next
party – maybe it will become your
tradition too!
